• I use wordpress 3.7.1 on my self host. Since yesterday, the following error suddenly comes on my wordpress site. I haven’t touched any file on my wordpress root directory and haven’t made any changes on wordpress dashboard.

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 33554432 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 30720 bytes) in /home2/mayawap/public_html/blog/wordpress/wp-content/themes/twentythirteen/header.php on line 52

Why this error comes suddenly without any attempt to make any changes?

  • Hi helloworld1,

As the error indicates, you’ve used up the memory that’s allocated to PHP. While it’s strange that it suddenly happened without you modifying anything, it could be due to a troublesome plugin or some other recent PHP customization.

You should be able to increase your memory limit by either adding a line to your wp-config.php file or adding a memory_limit directive your PHP.ini file.

Thanks a lot jtyarks. Just a moment before the error on my blog has been solved out automatically anyways. The hosting service is doing some maintenance work I guess. But I’m working on this issue. The information you have given me is really useful. Thank you.
