Support » Plugin: Contact Form 7 » Creating separate thank-you page

  • After a lead has filled out and submitted my contact form, rather than having a small “thank you” box appear on the same Contact Form page, is it possible to have Contact Form 7 automatically generate a separate “thank you” confirmation page with a thank-you message and links back into various pages on my site?

My SEO guy tells me a separate thank-you page is considered SEO best practice, and it would eliminate trouble we’re having inserting Google Analytics Goal Conversion code into the Contact Form page (right now goal conversions aren’t being recorded and we aren’t sure why).

    Thanks!

  • Hey there, just had this problem myself. Here’s something I found that solved it for me:

Thank you very much for the link, I got it set up and I’m testing it now.

For what it’s worth, I’d respectfully challenge the Contact Form 7 creator’s assertion on the linked page that thank-you pages are antiquated and unnecessary.

First, we weren’t able to get the goal conversion to work on the Contact Form page after several tries following your directions. Regardless of why, if it’s substantially harder for us to use it than to build a separate thank-you page, I wouldn’t automatically consider it an appropriate substitute.

Second, a separate thank-you page looks far more substantial and professional to the lead, the very person you need to impress at that moment. It reassures them more boldly that you received their inquiry and will act on it. And it allows you to redirect them right back to various pages in your site to learn more about you, right at their moment of greatest interest. That has substantial marketing value.

For example, I just whipped up this thank-you page with links back into my site in about 20 minutes:

Just a thought. Thanks for making a great contact form! I love using it.

Totally agree with what you’re saying 🙂
