• Since moving our site to a new server, the plugin doesn’t seem to be working (we’re with dreamhost). I can’t figure it out. Nothing I enter seems to impact the results I see on google.

For instance, google indexes the author pages and the year pages even though I have them selected in the SEO options. Before moving the site to a new server this wasn’t happening.

Also, the custom title and description I enter in the posts/pages doesn’t seem to be picked up by google.

Really seems like the plugin just isn’t doing what it says it is.

Hoping that before I do a complete re-install of the plugin someone will be able to help me find out what’s going on.

Any help will be much appreciated!

  • Jon,

I see the plugin is installed on your site, it appears to be rewriting titles (though I can’t tell for sure) and outputting canonical links. Are the settings configured the same now as they had been before? Perhaps you could give me a link to an author or date archive page I could look at?

Ya, I haven’t changed the settings; they’re the same as before.

    Here’s two examples:

    and
    http://www.universaltheosophy.com/author/paracelsus/page/56/

In page source I do see that SEO has added a “nofollow” to the author page, and in the first link the description from SEO is there. But… why isn’t google recognizing these? I’ve tried to get them to re-crawl, etc., but nothing seems to change. So is there some setting I’m missing, or some step that I need to take to make sure google recognizes what SEO has done? I really don’t understand what’s going wrong here…

    Jon,

Yes, I see there’s a noindex there; this looks correct to me. Google will obey the noindex directive, so I’d suggest taking a look at this in Google Webmaster Tools to try to get more information here.

I’ve tried looking through Webmaster tools, but can’t see any specific information on this issue. Could it just be a matter of waiting for Google to re-index/re-crawl the site??

    Jon,

That could very well be it, yes. I’d suggest contacting them about it for clarification if this isn’t already resolved.
