GoDaddy VDS (PHP safe mode “ON”)

Could the fact that my GoDaddy VDS has “” PHP Safe Mode “ON””” be causing WP not to be able to write to my Uploads folder?

I have re made the uploads folder several times and checked permissions on server and with FTP. I keep getting the ….parent directory writeable by the server? message

I cannot upload photos and I’m nt sure if it’s possible to turn off “safe mode”
