    Duplicator worked last week but doesn’t seem to work now. Only big change is change of WordPress to most recent version,

    I’ve made a package and installer file, uploaded it to a new empty folder on my server, navigated to the installer.php file, created a database and user, proceeded to Step 2 and waited. It finally gets to the end, shows me new settings. I navigate to the url it shows me but get 403 message.

    Looking via FTP I can see the file has been decompressed but it’s still inside the folder with the huge long name. If I manually move the files out, I can navigate to my site, but links don’t work, pages can’t be found.

    Read your stuff on similar problems. It seems to explain why this occurs but not how to fix it.

  • Hey Omigosh,

    Did you have a chance to checkout this FAQ item?
    -> Browse to: http://lifeinthegrid.com/duplicator-faq
    -> Find section: “2. Installer=> Why are some of the files from the package.zip not extracting correctly?”

    I think that might be related to your issue…

    Yes, I read that. It didn’t seem to pertain to my situation. My understanding is that the program simply unpacks the Zip file, and puts it at the root level of the folder you’re using, is that right? I did that and it seemed to work but the links weren’t right– kept going back to the other site.

    Hey Omigosh,

    During extraction it should not extract to a folder with the same name as the package. You might have to manually extract the package and then on step one of the installer check the ‘Manual Extraction’ checkbox in the advanced section. For some reason your hosts PHP version is creating the secondary directory… I have seen this on rare occasions and haven’t seemed to find a fix for it…
