nope, never seen it before.
Where you get redirected to depends largely on where you came from in the first place and what the heck you’re doing. There’s like 12 different places it can take you depending on the path you’re using and the specific steps you take.
It should be fairly intuitive, but yes, it won’t be consistent if you expect it to always do the exact same thing, because you can get to the edit post page from a dozen different routes.
However, actually publishing a new post should pretty much always take you back to an empty editing screen with a new yellow box at the top saying that your post was made and offering you a link to go see it. But that’s different from editing an existing post, sort of thing. So look at what it is that you’re doing in what order and then see if that’s what you would expect or not.

This issue only happens when making a new post. It does NOT happen when editing a post.
I’m sorry for not being more clear.
same here, upgraded with one-click upgrade on Dreamhost (from 2.2 I think), editing is fine, but hit publish on a new post I get a blank screen from /wp-admin/post.php and no new post on the front end
also seeing some funky things with changes not ‘sticking’ when saving post
:-/
suppose its time to manually replace the WordPress files, especially upgrade wp-config
