Can't add images or links to posts

    Since upgrading to WP 3.5 I’ve been unable to add images to posts (clicking Add Media does nothing) and adding links in the Visual editor just crashes WordPress (I can add them in HTML only). I was hoping that the 3.7 update might solve this, but it hasn’t, and neither has 3.7.1. I’ve tried disabling all plugins and reverting to the basic theme, but that hasn’t helped.

    which does cause the Insert Link window to appear but I still get the crash. It did nothing for images.

    Does anyone have any other suggestions for what I can try?

    Eh, i add Tags and the darn post disapears…argee!

    Barb, I was saying that I have had media problems after only one month.

    Your best bet to try is to upgrade to the latest WordPress which is 3.7.1.

    That may fix both.

    @elementsbarb – that thread is for WordPress.COM sites which are totally different from self-hosted sites.

    What is your site URL?

    Can you deactivate ALL plugins and switch to the twentythirteen theme so we can rule out those as problems?

    Also, make sure you’ve cleared your browser cache and cookies and tried another browser.

    How big are the images you are uploading?

    Have you tried checking for JavaScript errors?

    I have tried deactivating all plugins, using different themes, and switching to firefox before with no luck, but I’ll have another go, since that was all in 3.5.

    The images are just screenshots. A typical image would be something around 400 x 400 px and maybe 200 KB, usually jpg or png. I don’t know if I made it clear, but I never get far enough for size or format or anything like that to matter: I can’t bring up the Get Media window at all.

    I will try checking for errors and let you know what I find

    Thank you so much for all your help. After enabling debugging, it started working with plugins off and I was finally able to trace it down to the Easy Toolbox plug-in. Again, I greatly appreciate getting such fast responses from both of you.
