_load_pope errors

    In the main file nggallery.php on line 76 of version 2.0.33, the line $this->_load_pope();, which loads pope, causes a tremendous number of errors on a development server. On development, and production sites, $this->_load_pope(); causes AJAX communication to break. I would be very happy to provide feedback directly with the author from my testing if changes could be made to remedy this issue.
