I just was trying to install WP 2.5 and get this error in wp-admin:

Fatal error: Call to undefined function register_sidebar() in /home/blogpla/public_html/wp-admin/includes/dashboard.php on line 12

    http://blog.planetaservidor.com.br/wp-admin/

I installed the version I downloaded here.

    Is it a known bug?

No, it basically means that you didn't upload all the WordPress files to your server. Some of them didn't get there, or were incomplete, or what have you. This is an extremely common error for people to make. Not sure why, exactly.

Try again, and double check that all the files get there.

I had re-uploaded wp-admin and still with error. I'm just re-uploading all files.

I got this error aswell, and I found the reason was because I had the Disable Wordpress Widgets plugin. So I just deleted that plugin's folder, and it fixed it.

Sorry. It was an error from my part.

    Re-uploading it worked. :)

    Same error here.

My Fix: I remembered that I left my plug ins on during the upgrade. So, I pointed to the plugins page manually. It came up and I disabled the plugins and it worked after that.
