Use to just change the date and publish in past versions. Now doing so posts immediately. Tried combinations of saving and publishing with different status, etc. Either posts immediately or not at all. What am I missing?

The developers decided to hide the posting date function by default, thus making you add yet another click in order to access one of the options on the new write page.

To schedule a date for the future, or to backdate a new post, look for the tiny link “Edit” aright above the Save button. Click that and the date will expand, making it visible, and editable.

I know whereéhow to edit the date for a future post by clicking the edit link and changing the date 🙂 however doing so does not send the post in the future. It is send immediately. Again, tried combinations of saving and publishing with different status, etc. Either posts immediately or not at all. What am I missing?

Rongo, you must have the long distance touch! I just tried it again for the umpteenth time and it worked! First time it ever scheduled. Bizarre. Spent the morning dicking with this… must have been the long time trying to get images to work 🙂

Even more bizarre… now it is posting immediately! It will not schedule again… nothing changed, I was just posting one after another. It scheduled a half dozen or so and then stopped and started sending immediately.

I figured out what is happening though have no idea why. OK, here`s what I got – I can get it to schedule if the future time for the post is after the present hour. If it is 15:14 now it will not schedule unless I enter the time for the post for anytime after 16:00. It will not schedule if I set the time for 15:18, 15:29, etc. I usually future post for hours or days ahead so do not see this as an immediate problem but is this normal?

Wow. I can’t believe I had to search the forums to realize there is an edit button next to date. I wonder if that means I’m just blind, or if it’s too hidden. Or possibly both?

I found the edit button np but am also having trouble publishing at a future time. Will try ur suggestion TedM, even tho I find it mildly annoying that I would need to be so careful to set the clock like that. Thanks tho!

Just a guess Ted, but are you sure your WordPress time is the same as your computer’s. I don’t think WP changes for daylight saving time.

I’m having exactly the same problem.

The time showing in the post time entry is the same as the time on my wall clock and on my computer. Any future time that has the hour the same as the current hour publishes immediately. The hour must be different for the post to schedule for future publishing.

It seems It’s a generalized bug, because it happens to me too. I hope it to be solved on the next revision…

I have seen this same issue, with future posts being visible immediately, but not all future posts, just some. Jabecker, thanks for noting the time thing, which probably explains the situation and points to the bug issue. Has this been submitted to the bug tracker yet?

    It’s been submitted and fixed:
    http://trac.wordpress.org/ticket/6456

Root problem was that it didn’t notice changes to only the minute of the future post time. So posts in the same hour got published immediately. This was due to typos.

    Fix will be in 2.5.1.
