   O.K. - must be going blind here, but I can't find the category id's anywhere in 2.5. It used to be in the left hand column of manage>categories. Now the categories are listed but there's no mention of the ID. Can anyone help, please.

   Somebody made the somewhat dumb decision to take those ID's out all over the place.

   If you hover over or click the category link, you can see the id in the URL. Like this:
   /blog/wp-admin/categories.php?action=edit&cat_ID=80

   That "80" would be the category ID.

   For revealing post and page IDs I've created this little handy plugin: http://www.schloebe.de/wordpress/manage-posts-pages-id-25/#english

   See screenshot for what it does. :-) Unfortunately no cat IDs displayed yet, but I'm working on it. I will extend the plugin in the near future with user access control and IDs in the category and link lists.
