Go to settings/permalinks. Scroll down to the bottom and see if the changes there are included in your .htaccess file.

I had a look, and i set the settings in permalinks and saw that my htaccess file was changing.

I disabled the plugin above and reset the site permalinks, now its back on track! thanks for your help.

Is there any other way of redirecting old permalinks to the new ones?
(idea of the plugin but it seems to generate a 404 on regular pages.)

Google was screaming at me because i changed to /%postname% now its screaming at me again because i changed them back.
