Switching in custom post types on home page

I have created a custom post type which will be the primary post type used on my site. This post type also has a custom taxonomy associated with it. Which function(s) do I need to override in my child theme in order to display this CPT in place of the standard posts, and to display this custom taxonomy in place of the “Author”?
