Hey WP, THANKS for WP2.5. Excellent.

    I have used both RC1 and RC2 of 2.5.

I have now upgraded an RC2 to 2.5 (not an RC at all — a full release I understand).

Assuming I am correct, then I also assume the footer, when one is in the Admin panel, ought not to say ‘…a development version (2.5)…’.

_How_ minor is this — very; but thought it best to note anyway. Cheers, -Alan.

I have not used any of the development versions of 2.5, having decided to wait for the release. I have the same text. Minor issue, but it should probably be fixed.

This is odd. I didn’t do any changes to my installation but suddenly over the night the text has changed to plain “Version 2.5”.

    Spooky…

the version is detected on your user side and then send to WordPress for checking and then the reply that wordpress gives you is outputted there

The version checking code runs about once a day. Basically it sends your version number to the wordpress.org servers which then send back a reply saying what kind of version it is. That response is cached for a day before it tries to check again. So whatever version you were running was development, and then it didn’t get the new information for a day to find out that you were not running a development version any more.
