404 or 500 server error on every page after trying to make Wordpress my homepage (3 posts)

I'm trying to replace my domain's homepage, www.dansolomon.com, with the Wordpress version I developed at www.dansolomon.com/blog. I built it at /blog because I didn't want to go live with the work-in-progress version of the site.

Upon completing the site, I did something that may have been foolish, and changed the "blog address" on my admin page's options to the main page of the site- www.dansolomon.com. When that didn't immediately replace the old version of the site with the new one, I moved the /blog folder to the root directory, instead of its previous location, which was /root/dan/blog. The /blog folder is where all of the Wordpress files are, obviously. I realized that I was acting without knowing what I was doing quickly, and moved it back to where it had been. After that, I followed the instructions for "Giving Wordpress Its Own Directory", and now everything has stopped working- at first the sidebar and header remained, but the main section of the page, where the blog entries had been, was a 404. When I clicked on any of the individual posts in the sidebar, I got a 500 server error; the same, too, for any of the static pages I had created with Wordpress.

Trying it now, it seems the 404's are all gone- a quick attempt to access www.dansolomon.com/blog results in a 500 server error, and the same too when I try to access my admin page.

At this point, I'm utterly lost. Everything had been working, and to the best of my knowledge, I've put everything back where it had been. While I know that doing that doesn't necessarily mean everything is going to fix itself, I am at a loss as to what I should do to get the site back. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and if you need more information, I'd be happy to provide it. Thanks!

Also, and I've no idea if this provides a clue or not, I just noticed that on the current (old) main page for www.dansolomon.com, all of the apostrophes and quotation marks have changed to question marks. I did not do that manually.
