theme options (panel) not available

Hi! The theme option panel has stopped working. I can see the icons on the left side, but the customization functions are not available (page is plain grey).

Before this happened, the editing on the website went unstable(e.g. words from the lower footer pushed up to the heading, buttons on tagline and boxes changed in color…).

I’m a newbie – not sure what to do / where to put my hands. Even came up with the brilliant idea of uninstalling wp and re-installing it again… but I think I made things worse.
