• Someone has asked me to look at their Dashboard to help them understand how they can better update their content and understand how the developer created the site to know where data is located and how it can be updated.

My first question is … even though there is a Static Home Page in Pages and when you go to the site it shows a slideshow, content, etc. the actual Home page in the Dashboard shows with NO content, no shortcodes, etc.

Where is the home page content so I can make changes?

    Thanks for any help!

  • Where did you download your theme from?

I’m not the developer. I was asked to take a look at the wp-admin and let them know how things were setup. But, I’m a framwework user and not familiar with how a Home page shows content when viewed in a browser, but shows no content when in the Dashboard / Pages / Home.

Try looking in Appearance -> Themes.

Yes, I see a theme there. It may be one that the developer customized, I’m not sure. Just says by Anonymous and Version is blank.

I’m sorry but as this appears to be a custom theme, we really have no idea how the orgoinal developer configured/built his/her theme. Best guess – the static home page uses a custom page template with all of the content hard coded into that template.

Thanks esmi. I’ll attempt to get the Control Panel credentials so I can get in and take a look for the custom page template.
