I’ve been blogging since October, 2006 but just purchased my own domain names and switched from Blogger to WordPress. Check out my site: http://www.tooprogressive.com and let me know (regardless of your political leaning) what you think of the site as far as layout goes or any suggestions you have. πŸ˜€

It’s a nice, clean portal design, and I like green as a secondary color. My only advice would be to have some kind of logo or something special for the header–at least a different font; it looks kind of plain.

Overall it looks good. It has a nice clean look that political blogs should have. I agree with the previous comment regarding the header however.

Also, a couple of the elements are overwriting the menu bar somewhat, the RSS feed and the Air America image.

I think it looks excellent and you have a lot going on in all 3 columns, so it looks like a very full site.

i had a question about a plug in you have on your site. above each post you have “Email this β€’ Digg This! β€’ Fark It β€’ Submit to Reddit β€’ Stumble It! β€’ Subscribe to this feed”

Where did you find that plug in and can you post a link to it please?
    Thanks!

That code he has is generated by FeedBurner. They call it “FeedFlare” and have versions of it that can be inserted into your webpage.

you manually insert it into your wordpress page at the top of each post you make, or does it show up automatically when each post is made.?
    Please advise.

I have to manually insert it into each post because for some reason it didn’t work when I tried to insert it into the code. I think I was using a different template then though so I should probably try doing that again. Having to manually insert it is a real pain!!

As far as a header, I have one but the site looks less “clean” when I use it. I wanted it to be in the center of the main column underneath the nav bar. IDK, I just didn’t like it.

As far as the overlapping elements, what browser are you guys using? I had a friend tell me the same thing but I checked in both Firefox and IE 6.0 and I didn’t notice a problem. Are you guys using IE 7.0? Also, how can I fix this???

Are you having any trouble with firefox browser in relation to your youtube videos? If so any suggestion.

http://www.partisanreport.com (your polar opposite) check it out and tell me if the format is all jacked up. You may have to scroll down to see. Everything is smashed to the left side of the screen. However, other browsers see the format perfectly fine.

What? No? My YouTube vids are working just fine….

Terry, I should have explained. Once I started inc. youtube videos into some of my articles, the firefoxe browser (my guess) is having a hard time formating it. It has to be that because other browsers work fine.

I dont’ know how to resolve the issue. I’ve tried reembedding the videos and taking them out but something still isn’t right. Did you check my site?

    Thread Starter Terry

    (@terry85)

Yes I did. I see what you are talking about but thought you were saying you were having a similar problem on my site.

I just checked yours on IE6 and it looks okay. It’s not Firefox, because videos on other sites would do the same thing. My guess is that it’s your theme. I had a problem with videos on the theme I tried to use when I first joined WP.

Thanks for the info. I am going to try to make it automatic based on this info http://blogs.feedburner.com/help/feedflare/adding_feedflare_to_your_wordp/popup/

oh brother…it it’s not one thing it’s another…Why does it work on some and not others…I really dont’ want to change themes.

TVDinner, no problem. I’m trying to decide if I want to keep that, or just use the “sharethis” plugin that is appearing at the bottom of each post. I can’t figure out how to move the “sharethis” icon to the top, though.

    tvdinner

    (@tvdinner)

do you have a link to the sharethis plug in?
