Hi all,

Trying to install WordPress.

I have had a database created for me and I can access it throguh FTP.

I have uploaded all the files and edited them, however I get a 404 error for everything when I am trying to view it (install.php)

I have a feeling it is somehow not hooking up to the server..

All of the files are correct and my name servers point to the url.(www.monsieurandmoi.com)

I have been seeing things about MySLQand what not..

Could someone please explain point me in the right direction.

Not clear from your description.

404 indicates failure to communicate with the server.
– it could be configuration issue – it could be memory issue
– it could be permalinks issue, review this: How to fix 404 error when using Pretty Permalinks? – it could be optimization issue
– it could be a conflict with plugin: try resetting the plugin folder – it could be a conflict with theme: try switching to the default theme for a moment via FTP and see if that resolves the issue.
– check for .htaccess file presence and check if the default wordpress mod-rewrite code is there or not. There are times when .htaccess file is not writeable or gotten deleted
– Check the server error log for your hosting account. Ask your hosting provider for assistance to locate them.

I can’t find the htaccess file, if it there where would it be?

and also I remember there being folders like public.html etc…

Will they be there after installation? Or could this be part of the problem..

Not Found

The requested URL / was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

No, .htaccess is not a php file.
