Common word is producing null results

    Strange behavior on this website, using Relevanssi 3.1.8 and WP 3.5.1
    search heal and highlight both heal and healing (1 item)
    search health and get nothing
    search health coalition (phrase) and get 30 results
    search coalition and get 30 results — 21 of these include ‘health coalition’ phrase.

    I note that other words that produce no results are ‘women’ (woman is ok) and ‘public’. I’ve tried adjusting the number limit (100, 500, 900) but there’s no change that I can see. Any ideas?

    Is there any chance that “health” is on the list of stop words? That would explain why it gets no results, even when it clearly appears in posts that are indexed. Same with “women” and “public”.

    Yes, that’s the answer! Can I just edit that table to remove these critical words from it?

    Yes, remove them from stopwords, then reindex the database.

    Stop word table should only have those meaningless words that nobody would search for by themselves (from this post good candidates would be “yes”, “them”, “from”, “then”, “the”, “should”, “have”, “those”, “that”, “would”, “for”, “by”, “themselves”, “this”, “be”).
