Blank index page after changing blog URL (8 posts)

    Hi all,

    So I installed Wordpress (in a subdirectory) on my server some days ago and it all worked fine, until I changed the blog address in the admin panel.

    I changed this address to a domain (OnlineBijverdienen.net) that should point to the Wordpress directory (bijverdienen.vankeer.eu).

    When I try to open the index page now, it just loads a blank page. However I can still access the admin panel and any other file in my Wordpress subdirectory via this domain.

    I figured I should leave the Wordpress URL untouched, because when I change that too, it doesn't load the CSS.

    I tried to reinstall everything, but that didn't work. I still get the blank page when I use the domain URL instead of the direct address for that Wordpress directory. I'm using the latest version of Wordpress and only one plugin (contact form).

    I would say that there's some sort of framing issue, particularly as there are loads of errors on the page - for example, framesets out of the body

    Yes that should be MyDomain.com's messy code and I don't think I change that, but I never had any problems with their URL forwarding before...

    Ok, weird update:

    I now get a 404 error when I try to open the index.php (and yes, it does exist on the server), but not with all the other files in that directory.
    When I change the content of index.php to e.g. "<? echo 'test'; ?>", the 404 magically disappears... What's going on here?

    Wordpress does not like to be redirected or forwarded.

    I think I've found out why I get the blank pages after changing the home address to that domain name...

    When I surf to the domain name (www.onlinebijverdienen.net), it loads the actual blog in a frame. I think Wordpress checks the URL first and redirects the visitor to the "home" address (in this case the domain name) if it doesn't matches it, before loading the actual page.
    So if my little theory here is correct, Wordpress should cause an infinite loop in my case, because Wordpress redirects to www.onlinebijverdienen.net and that domain redirects to Wordpress. :s

    So obviously I don't want Wordpress to redirect the visitor to the home address when the page loads. (I just wanted to change all the links to my domain name.)

    Does anyone know where I should change that in the code?

    As I said before, Wordpress does not like redirects. If you insist on this, WP will never work exactly like intended - no shit.

    But keep trying - joisting at windmills is so much fun.

    We are experiencing the same problem. I was asked by a friend to help on his site but after we made some changes we noticed that there was basically nothing in the source code for the search engines to find. The site is Catch A Lot Charter and if you note the source code is the same as that in the post above. It is also not accepting the blog through this crazy redirect thing.
    We do not host this site and have nothing to do with those that do, as stated earlier, we were just trying to assist a friend in need.
