• Hi, firstly I wanna say the plug in is really useful, but I´am having this problem that the tooltips I configured for my posts work properly on desktop but not on Safari on iPhone: when I tap the tooltip pops up, but it never disappears, neither tapping on the link, or on the tooltip itself.

I fear loosing visitors (using mobile devices) on my site, cause they just cannot get rid of the tooltip after it has poped up.

Here an example (please test on a mobile device ;):

The bit “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” in the last line is a tooltip.

    Any help? Its really urgent!
    Thanks in advance! 🙂

  • Having the same issue. Seems kinda odd as “mobile-friendly” is in the title.

Hey isabelelia, thanks for the detailed report, as I said before I don’t have any time to deal with bug reports, I’d really like if you or anyone else can continue the work on this plugin. I can add you as a developer on WordPress or on Github.

    Hi Itay,
Thanks for your reply. Actually I am a designer building a website in wordpress and wanted to apply your plug in the posts as an additional layer of content. As such I dont have any clue how to develop a plug in. I tought the forum here is to put members in contact with developers and vice versa in order to improve the experience of using wordpress (as I did, reporting the bug I identified, after many tests). I think the bug is responsabilty of its author or other developers, unfortunately it´s not my field of knowledge.

I really would love to use the tooltip, but as the current bug can mean loss of visitors, I had to eliminate it from my site.

I wish the bug will be fixed, and at least till there the bit “mobile-friendly” in the title of the plug in should be urgently removed…

Ofc you are completely right. I built this plugin and support in voluntarily, and as I mentioned, unfortunately I can’t work on your problem right now because of few reasons:
    1. I don’t have safari so I can’t reproduce the bug.
    2. There are no other reports (yet) about this bug.
    3. I am very short on free time.
I understand your choice to use another plugin ATM and hope you’ll update my plugin to the next version and that you’ll use it after I’ll solve the bug.

One last thing, you my also want to talk to Mirco Babini, who said he’ll help continue the development of the plugin.

    EDIT****:
IMPORTANT: I just checked your demo page, it seems you’re not using the plugin at all, how can I even start to debug it like that?

    Hi Itay,
    thanks for quick reply!

In the meanwhile I had deactivated the plug in because of the bug, but as we are in contact now, I activated it again. I have put a ToolTip under the same link: http://www.laberlina.com/2013/10/post-8/
in the bit “Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet” (right at the beginnig of the paragraph) and now it seems as though it doenst work anymore (I tested in safari, chrome and firefox on my desktop).

On my post dashboard I see the tooltip code like this:
[tooltip tip="tooltip test lorem ipsum"]Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet[/tooltip] however in the published post the bit of text doenst appear as a tooltip.

Please check it out there if the same happens to you, too.
    Thanks

Hi, is there any other tooltip plugin active? did you use the button to add the tooltip?
This is not a problem of the plugin as it does work, it may have bugs but it works. Please check how you applied it and make sure you use it correctly.

    Hi

I dont have any other plug in that kind active, only the “Responsive Mobile-Friendly Tooltip”.
Below is how my post dashboard looks like. I used the green button to add the tooltip today. One month ago, I still could see that the tooltip was there, the bug was only in mobile devices. Now I cannot see that the tooltip is there anymore.. I dont know what happened, as I didnt change anything in settings in the last time.

I was having a similar problem isabelelia and I removed a line in the CSS on #tooltip pointer-events:none; and now it appears to work on iOS and on desktop. Not sure why that was in there though so use at your own risk.
