    I’m running Subscribe2 for like 2 years, and it always worked fine. Six weeks ago, per-post e-mails notifications suddenly stopped working.

    I did a lot of troubleshooting, including:

    • set “recipients per email” to 0, 1 and 50 -> no effect
    • checked for disabled users
    • checked for excluded categories -> none
    • enabled ALTERNATE_WP_CRON -> no effect
    • contacted my hosting provider -> no change, no outbound mails in their logs
    • installed WP-Crontrol
    • installed E-Mail Log plugin

    At this point, I see that the cron system works, the “publish_post” / “publish_future_post” hooks get activated and are run successfully. The per-post notifications aren’t being generated (!) (according to E-Mail Log). It does however work to send e-mails manually via “Send Email”.

    Apparently, per-post notification emails aren’t generated.

    What should I check next?

  • @abaumg,

    Can I clarify for my full understanding, you have the email logger installed and when you publish a new article on your site emails show up in the log?

    If that’s the case then Subscribe2 is working fine and your hosting provider were looking in the wrong log when they told you emails were not being generated.

    You could try an SMTP plugin that pushes emails via an SMTP server, that might get it sending or at least make it easier for your hosting company to find. I use Configure SMTP.

    No – I publish a new article, but no emails show up in the log.

    If I try to send a email manually via Subscribe2’s “Send Email” function, they do show up, and they get sent.

    Found the culprit! It’s the plugin “User Role Editor”. When disabled, everything works fine.

    Although I don’t understand what the User Role Editor has to do with e-mails…. but obviously there is some issue.

    @abaumg,

    I’ve updated my conflicts information page with this conflict notification. Thanks for telling me about it.
