• Hi,

I’m fairly new to WordPress/blogs but gradually getting to grips with the basics.

A Question… is it possible to set up a second copy of WordPress in a password protected folder (.htpasswd) ? Would the second copy be able to have its own database tables ?

    TIA

I’ll try a new install…. I must remember to backup everything first 🙂

    Thanks

User another Tableprefix, not wp_ because this will normally used by your first blog. This enabled you to use more then one blog with the same database.

The other way would be you use a second database for your second blog.

Thanks folks, it seems to work OK. I put another copy of the WordPress files in a new folder, tweaked the config file to set the prefixes to f_ and ran the install script.

I actually bought a second database from my host and used it so I could keep things tidy. Then discovered that I could not copy/move tables from one database to the other !! 🙁

Nice to hear things are working now. Can you mark this thread as resolved?
