• Hello all

I made after about more than half an year doing nothing in this sense updates. I have installed the newest wordpress version / Nextgengallery update (amongst others).

Now I rapidly noticed, that the loading time (after updating) has risen dramatically! Now I’m waiting until 10-15 seconds until pages and also blogs are loaded.

I know there are certain heavy pictures on the three front pages and also music which is loaded on the main page. But before updating this was no problem.

After that I installed a P3 Plugin Profiler and the result of the evaluation showed me that about 95% of the loading time is caused by Nextgengallery-plugin.

Is there somebody having the same problems or even better a solution?

My page can be seen here: http://tierra-safiri.com

    theme is an elegant theme..

    Thanks !

  • I have the exactly same problem!

My page loaded in about 3 Seconds, since the latest update I also have 10 – 15 seconds at least.

    No solution known so far…

    Thanks for reply!

I’m still investigating this, but the problem seems to be not easy find out.

If you find something out, I would really appreciate if you let me know.

I tried several things to fasten the page again. The first thing I tried was a caching-plugin, but several caching-plugin don’t work with NextGEN. It can happen that the visitors can not open the folder of a compact NextGEN Gallery anymore because of the caching, so I had to delete the cache plugin again.

Next thing I tried was a smart load plugin (“Crazy Lazy”), so that the pictures on the page are loaded not before they reach scroll position.
It did not help – the NG Gallery slows down the page so much that it did not really have an effect…

I will let you know, if I can find out how to resolve this problems… it seems that NextGen Gallery has several problems regarding the last update..

I have checked all the plugins and I got a result. The slowdown of my wordpress-site is 100% related with NextGen Gallery plugin 2.0.0 and higher.

The only way to break out of this problem seems to be to download manually an older Version of NextGen Gallery (i.e. 1.9.13) and lower and upload (and overwrite) it via ftp.

There is an instruction on the NextGen page online: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/how-to-rollback-a-version/

I on my part find, that there is anyway not a very big advantage over new versions of NextGen Gallery..

The loading time is about 3 times faster now, not the best one but to some degree bearable..

Hope this will help you as well!

    Best regards

for newer versions beginning with NextGen Gallery version 2.0.0 this problem remain unresolved.

amphibol (and others): there’s a fork based on ngg-1.9.13: http://wordpress.org/plugins/nextcellent-gallery-nextgen-legacy/

It’s probably an alternative to keeping stuck at ngg-1.9.13.

If you give it a try, be sure to follow the instructions, especially do *not* remove ngg from within the wordpress backend, because this would trigger ngg’s deinstallation hooks and remove all your galleries. You have to remove it manually from the filesystem (using ssh, ftp or whatever you use to access your document root).
