I am using All in SEO plugin and I used to tick "noindex archives" and "noindex categories". Yesterday I found some of my old posts were not yet indexed by google.

I have transfered my blog from a blogspot blog to wordpress. So I am worried if using noindex for archives and categories is keeping out search engines from indexing.

I personally feel we should not use noindex as search engines know much better than us what to index and crawl.

Should I use noindex for categories and archives ?

    I think it's really a personal preference.

I personally do because I don't want to get knocked for duplicate content, engines don't like that.

SE's will still index your articles and such, I think they just avoid the actual category and archive views, they're quite similar.

    Hope that helps....

I'm also using this plugin. I decided to leave noindex enabled for archives and categories as it was set to by default. What about noindex for tags however? Is it important to block indexing those as well and just leave it to the engines to find your content via single posts?
