No I don’t believe so. This has been reported just this week and I have it tracking as a bug. I am still looking into possible solutions but it will most likely be one that has to bridge JS and flash to stop videos when a modal is closed or hidden.
This also may lead to adding auto play functionality as well allowing you to start the video when the modal opens. But like I said I’m still doing research to find a solid solution.
This is weird, because earlier versions of Easy Modal stopped playback just fine. Only with the recent major upgrade did that functionality stop.
YouTube videos, Vimeo videos, etc…
bestfootage.net is an example of a site with easy modal. Click on a video, it pops up, you play it, but if you close the modal before pausing, it keeps playing.
Again, this wasn’t an issue previously. Something changed in the code to cause this.
I believe you must are talking about version 0.9.1.1 or similar. It worked that way because the modals were never actually loaded to the dom except when shown. Then they were removed entirely meaning your video was removed from the page entirely causing it to stop when removed.
I added your link above to the issue ive got tracking it. I have it committed to v1.3.1 with several other similar issues but after looking at how simple the fix should be i will try to get it in with the next small patch. I will be starting on that as soon as i clear my current project.
Well, in the meantime, I’ve solved my problem by just having the videos hosted on vimeo and youtube. Because of seo, we have other videos that have been on vimeo for years, that have product us new customers. It was strange though, with the videos hosted on our space…, and with sitewide on, And autoplay on as well…, the audio of all the videos would start playing simultaneously at the home page/index of the site.

We will work out a solution if its possible. On a side note one of the features we will be adding is Ajax modals again. It was how the plugin initially functioned but it caused issues with a lot of plugins. Others not so much but the new option will add Ajax to the other display options.
This has been fixed in v1.3.0.3.
