There’s a whitelist for 404 errors(/”intrusion detection”), which is certainly handy.
However, I’m looking for one that will apply to the login limits, so that when my legitimate users logging in from certain IPs mess up their credentials, they don’t get locked out. I can’t seem to find one? (WordPress 3.6.1, BWPS 3.5.6)
Ah ok. Not sure then, I know once we added our admin IP’s to the whitelist they no longer had any troubles.
Having been locked out of my own site several times now, a whitelist for login attempts seems to be a no brainer. Honestly, why WOULDN’T you have a whitelist option for it? Really, there should be a whitelist that covers an IP for all BWPS functions, so that nothing can slip through the cracks.
Today, I was locked out inexplicably. I found my IP in the database and deleted every instance of it. Still blocked out. Nothing in htaccess. Full computer restart, even. There was nothing for it except to wait until the time expired. This just isn’t acceptable.
@snthorv, maybe mod_security has blocked you? Try flushing your server’s firewall.
I’m also going to say that an IP whitelist for login attempts is needed. Larger organizations that have a lot of editors seem to trip the login limit fairly often. My only solution is to increase the number of login attempts per host, which is decreasing security as opposed to having an IP whitelisted.
No, I get the characteristic white page with just the word ‘error’ on it. Since I run my own dedicated web server, I was able rule out server side possibilities in short order. But since I was desperate, I did restart the firewall, etc. 🙂
Exact same problem as snthorv. Editing pages and suddenly get logged out. Don’t care if this is due to a plugin or my Firewall, or my server. But the fact that I am getting blocked from logging back in is due to Better WP Security, and whitelisting mi own static IP would easily solve this.

With update 4.2.8 white listing our own IP still not working… 🙁
The author of the pluggin has just confirm that the problem with lockout is resolved, and white list feature is working in the new update 4.2.8… Have a look at this thread :
