I downloaded Confit theme which is a free restaurant theme. And it shows that you can easily create a menu. However when I install in on my wamp server and activate it there is nowhere an option to create a menu.

Where is it hidden or how to I get to display it?

Confit theme is available here: http://theme.wordpress.com/themes/confit/

  • Creating menus is not related to the theme but you can put it on every theme according to the defined sections. To create menu, please read: WordPress Menu User Guide

Ah I’m sorry, I of course mean a food menu.

It the page it says the following and it shows a picture (check the link for that). Which is different from those regular menus in order to direct people through your site.

    Simple Food Menus

Add your delicious food menus all at once, or edit them on the fly by going to Food Menus in your Dashboard. Reorder the food menu items at any time. Changing the order of items in the menu is as easy as dragging and dropping them up and down.

Hi there, you need to install and activate the Jetpack plugin to use food menus, since they rely on Jetpack-linked custom post types.

If you’ve already activated Jetpack, could you provide a link to your site so I can take a look? Thanks.

    Hi Kathryn,

this is on my local wamp server. So I’m afraid I can’t really show it. I just downloaded the plugin as you stated and activated it. However there is still no Food Menus option in the left sidebar on the admin panel.

The part I am not seeing is: http://theme.files.wordpress.com/2012/11/food-menu.jpg?w=640

Hi there, the custom post types module in Jetpack – which powers the food items – will only work on a live server, so you won’t be able to preview it using local server software like WAMP. If you get your site set up on a live staging or production server you should be able to see the food items.

    Hi Kathryn,

thank you for your reply :-).

Too bad it won’t work on wamp πŸ™

In your wp-config.php file, put in:

    define( 'JETPACK_DEV_DEBUG', TRUE );

That should enable the custom post types in Jetpack on a WAMP install.

    Thanks, Tim!

LeMoi – if you still have any trouble with this, just let us know.

    Hi Kathryn

I’m having the same issue. The option to create a food menu does not appear in my Dashboard.
I have Jetpack installed, and I’m running the theme on a live server.

Any clues would be gratefully received

Yes, I’ve added the bit of code as stated by Tim to the wp-config file. I’ve tried placing it at several positions. However it still says it can’t establish a connection at the information.

And therefore still no food menu appears πŸ™

Thanks for letting us know. We’re working on getting this fixed up and I’ll keep you posted.

Hi there – just wanted to let everyone know that the food menus will be available in Confit with the next Jetpack release. If you’d like to use the food menus before Jetpack 2.6 is officially released, you can download the development version here:

Let me know if you have any further issues with it. Thanks for your patience!

Awesome! Thank you for the effort and keeping us updated. I will wait until the next release.

You’re very welcome! Just let me know if you have any trouble with the menus once you start using them.

    Kathryn,
I am using the WordPress server and am wondering what, if anything different, I’ll need to do to get the Food Menu to show up on my site: http://hotgranolagirl.wordpress.com? Thanks in advance for your reply and help.
