Can't get autoplay on home page to work

I’ve tried putting your code into header.php and footer.php and it won’t load. Even tried removing the IF statement.

Works fine when placed on a page via shortcode (same URL).

Any ideas? It’s a cheap free theme so possibly a theme issue, but anything you could suggest would be appreciated.
