I installed Admin Block Country on two of my sites. It’s working but one feature is not.

It says it won’t include my own country but United States is included in the list. I almost “selected all” because I only want to allow US computers on my site. That’s when I noticed United States was included in the list. Luckily, I deselected it.

I’m sure it’s an easy fix for you to include in an update. It’s a great, easy to use plugin, by the way. Perfect for my company.

Was the site on a proper remote server or was it on your local computer. If it was on your local computer that’s the reason why it couldn’t pick up on the fact that you’re the in the US. The system can’t work it out, because your IP address is 127.0.0.1 anywhere in the world, cos its on your local network. There’s nothing I can do about this.

If you are developing locally, you do need to be careful with the Select All feature.

It is on a remote server (hosting account) located within the United States and with a US IP address.

Drats, try upgrading the plugin to 4.1 and use the ipcountry.marketingmix.com.au service. I’ve created this service and dearly hope it works well. To change the service, login to wp-admin, click Block Country, then update the service to ipcountry.marketingmix.com.au and click update. I’m not sure if this will fix your issue, but please let me know if it does or doesn’t.

I upgraded to 4.1 and ipcountry.marketingmix.com.au works perfectly. It does not allow you to see and check off your own country.

Who.is IP to Country service always shows every country including your own.

The second one (geoplugin.net IP to Country service) seems to work and then if you press update it intermittently reverts back showing your own country. Then if you press Update again your country will disappear.

I’m glad that its worked for you and that I invested the time to build ipcountry.marketingmix.com.au. Well worth it.

Bit sad about Who.is. I’m in Australia and I didn’t have the same issue you faced, looks like they may have to upgrade their range list or something.

In the next release I may just remove Who.is from the service list. I’ll keep track of ipcountry.marketingmix.com.au before making the change.

I just don’t want to block my own country.
