• Hello all,

I updated WP 3.6.1 from the latest version, but unfortunately the plugins / sidebar widgets cannot be opened anymore in order to alter information and/or add posts.
It does not show ‘on the outside’, so to speak. But from now on the site cannot be altered anymore with new (findable) information.

Widgets a.o.: WP relevant Video Player, AVH ext. categories, showcase sidebar, Footer area one & two

    Who has the solution?
    Thanks so much in advance!
    FS

  • Have you tried:

    – deactivating all plugins to see if this resolves the problem. If this works, re-activate the plugins one by one until you find the problematic plugin(s).

    – switching to the default theme to rule out any theme-specific problems.

resetting the plugins folder by FTP or PhpMyAdmin. Sometimes, an apparently inactive plugin can still cause problems.

    – re-uploading all files & folders – except the wp-content folder and wp-config.php & root .htaccess files – from a fresh download of WordPress. Make sure that you delete the old copies of files & folder before uploading the new ones.

    Dear Esmi,

Thanks, it worked half/half on the ‘FTP-solution’. So I’ll try some more of your other suggestions. I’ll let you know what happens. Thanks!

I’m having the same problem. I can see the widgets listed on the right of the edit widget list but the down arrows on each item do nothing. I have tried all of the suggestions above.

So here is a little more information.

The entire widgets page is broken. I have tested numerous admin pages and the “Screen Options” and “Help” tabs at the top all expand out. The tabs at the top of the widgets page don’t expand and you can’t grab a widget and drag it into the only widget tab that is open for me.

On the widgets page it is almost like the page doesn’t realize anyone is trying click on it. I can mouse over one of the widgets and my cursor changes to the 4 arrows that suggest it can be dragged but I can’t grab them to move them.
