Created child theme twenty eleven, now some icons have changed?

I have created a child theme for Twenty Eleven theme, (which took me forever) anyways, after doing so and activating the child theme, the little gray comment box on the posts have changed to squares? Also after changing the search bar width just a bit, there isnt that little search icon on the bar anymore just a page-break symbol when I click it to type in the search.

I’m not new exactly to wordpress, but first time with child theme installation. I’m not a coder or css guru at all. Any help would be appreciated. At least help me figure out why the comment icon changed to a square? Thank you Mike,
