• What is WordPress Sidebar? I was checking the Profile section of my admin page and noticed it at the bottom. The full text is:
    Sidebar:
    Add the WordPress Sidebar!
WordPress Sidebar is a link but is actually to the same page.
    Thanks.

  • I think it’s a bokmarklet to allow the quick adding of a link to your menu.
Never used it though, so I could be mistaken.

I just opened it (1.2.1). In my Mozilla Firefox 1.0 it opens a sidebar, a side panel (not a pop-up) that presents a very simplified blog post form: Title, Categories, Post (text), Save/Publish. Great for blogging things on a moment’s notice.
Very cool. I don’t think IE has this feature.

I just figured out what that feature is. “WordPress Sidebar” is a confusing name. The way it functioned in my Firefox, it saved a bookmark file. When I open that bookmark, it opens a Write Post frame on the left. It might be useful to open while looking at another page you’re blogging about.

This function is oddly placed under the Profile/Users page, perhaps awaiting development, it would seem, people have wondered its function since last year.
