This plugin seems a bit ‘flaky’. After activating it I get an error message (in red) in my Dashboard that says:

ERROR: The themes directory is either empty or doesn’t exist. Please check your installation.

And in the plugin admin page there are only two themes listed, apparently without an option to add further themes.

    Am I missing something?

What version of WordPress are you using?

You don’t add themes to the plugin admin; it pulls the themes installed on your WordPress site. Are there themes you have installed that aren’t showing up in the list?

Thanks for your reply. I’m on WordPress 3.6.1. In the meantime it had dawned on me that your plugin accesses themes that are already installed, rather then adding them. Thanks for the clarification. But what about the error message I see in the Dashboard?

How many themes do you have installed on the site experiencing that error message? Are the default WordPress themes installed?

Thanks for your quick reply. Just two themes installed: multi-color and Twenty Thirteen.

Have you modified the ‘multi-color’ theme at all?

Is it the one located at http://wordpress.org/themes/multi-color ?

I was able to download/install/demo it without error:

Have you tried going to the plugin settings and submitting them? Does the error remain after you save the plugin settings? What happens when you visit the website as a user, and what happens when you visit it as an admin?

Thanks for your further reply. Yes, I think the chap who has set up my website has indeed modified the ‘multi-color’ theme. Here is the link for the website http://hetranslation.co.uk/ It is set to multi-color theme for display on computers and Twenty Thirteen on smartphone.
Not sure what you mean by “going to the plugin settings and submitting them”. Can you elaborate a littl?

How is your existing site ‘switching’ between those themes?

If your programmer has modified the theme to handle custom theme display on its own, which it sounds like it may have based on your description, then that may be causing a conflict in allowing WordPress to control the theme display.

The plugin doesn’t modify the theme at all.

If you uninstall your multi-color theme and try the plugin with 2 ‘default wordpress themes’ do you get the same error?

Thanks for your further feedback. I’ll ask my programmer to have a look at this.

Alright, just let me know if I can be of any further assistance =)
