• hello,

i am using the plugin “popularity contest” heavily and i am very interested in the stats it gives out.
unfortunately it seems i do not really get how the popularity values work. maybe it’s a translation problem ?
i’ve been thinking it would have stopped the stats because nothing changed at the “top 10” for weeks. but this wasn’t the case.

what i don’t understand is: what exactly does “home views”, “archive views” and “category views” mean?

if a visitor browses through the archive pages where excerpts of several articles are to be seen, would that be an “archive view” already, which generates a hit for the “contest”? (that would be about 15 hits for 15 different articles per archive-, category- or home-page)

or does it refer only to the clicks coming from an archive page, respectively a category page or the home page, to the single-post-view (which would actually be a permanentlink-view again) ?

in case of the second option: does it count twice then? one for the way the visitor chose to arrive at the single post-view (coming from archive, home or category) and one for the single post-view (= permalink view) itself ?

actually it doesn’t make that much sense to me neither way.
could someone please define these expressions in matters of the values of this plugin ?
this is one of the biggest mysteries of universe to me right now.
it would help me a lot to set the values wisely. 🙂
    thank you in advance.
