Benefits of WordPress installs in subdomains vs subdirectories?
-
What are the benefits of installing multiple WordPress sites to subdomains vs to subdirectories, specifically regarding the ease of installing, maintaining, and upgrading such installs?
To research this I’ve read articles like these:
Matt Cutts
Tim Nash
Net Mechanic
MetaMend… and for SEO purposes it sounds like it doesn’t matter either way.
But my concern is more about how the two different installs affect WordPress administration.
Background: I’m about to set up a little non-profit site. They want one main site and several attached sites for various committees that will require a lot of public interaction.
I’d like to set it so as to minimize future headaches in maintaining it. I’ll have sitemaps for each of the little committee blogs as well as the main site.
Thank you for any and all opinions, I really appreciate it!
