   I'm about to build a website for a charity and they use an Apache web server. I have been told that Wordpress doesn't work on the web host, but I read on the Wordpress website that it does work. So I'm confused... does it work or doesn't it? :S

   It does. See the Requirements page, where it's actually recommended:
