Multisite URL Redirect / Domain Mapping Issue

Hello group, I have a small issue I would like to get the experts review of. I had a single WordPress installation and converted it to the multisite installation so I was forced to use the sub-directory structure for the site. Here is the issue:
Root site: gridone.us.com
Subdomain: g1usa.gridone.us.com maps to: gridone.us
Subdomain: g2usa.gridone.us.com maps to: gridone.coSo the issue is this: I can go directly to the site gridone.us or gridone.co and it works fine. When I am in the Network SuperAdmin mode and I visit site it uses the URL: g1usa.gridone.us.com which then gives a DNS error that it can’t be resolved correctly. This is complicated when attempting to do the import of files (media) because it is using the link: g1usa.gridone.us.com instead of gridone.us.
Should this simply be fixed in the settings for gridone.us by changing the root URL away from g1usa.gridone.us.com to gridone.us? Or is this more of a .htaccess issue? I am hosting with GoDaddy on this site. Thanks guys. I have posted on .htaccess for review.
