hiding subcategory posts from category pages

    Hi all,

    I’m looking for a way to show only the posts from the category selected in the menu and not any subcategories associated with that parent category.
    I’m using a child theme of twentytwelve. What is the safest way to display only the one category posts?

    Any help is greatly appreciated as I could only find 5 year old posts on this subject in the forum. TIA, best, d
