[NSFW] not able to save publish new posts page admin-appearance-menu-no-posts

Hi,

I am not able to see posts in the admin –> Appearance –> Edit Menus.

I can only see pages, categories, links. All the existing nav menus are seen and working.

I deactivated all plugins, switched to twentythirteen theme. This did not make any difference.

Google/Codex/Support Search told me that
the menu problem would be resolved by max_input_vars = 3000
I had to set up php.ini file in public_html
I was supposed to add in .htaccess file the following:

# BEGIN maxmax_input_vars = 3000
suPHP_ConfigPath /home/mydoctor/public_html
<Files php.ini>
order allow,deny
deny from all
</Files>

I do not know all this stuff. Nonetheless, when I attempted I got

Not Found
The requested URL /birth-control-pills/ was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

I reverted back to the former .htaccess and deleted php.ini.

The server details:
PHP Version is 5.3.25
Memory Usage is 42.8 MB

I can neither save nor publish new post nor new page.
Even when activating plugin option I get

I am using twentytwelvechild theme.
