Icons break Validation

Thank you for this plug-in.
We are using it under WP3.6
The only errors on our page are caused when we activate the plug-in.
We get the following:

The message is the same for each icon that we are using.
The icons are pulled into a series of blog post excerpts and seem to work properly, they just don’t validate.

Any ideas?
