Hi. I would like to use this plugin to show only the subcategories of the current category (in sidebar). But when I activate this, the blog doesn't come up at all!

This plugin has to be called within The Loop. It's for getting categories for a single post, not on a larger category page. I'm working on updating the documentation to make this clearer.
And it does work in 2.3.3, just not in the sidebar.

Posted 1 year ago #BTW, I think you might be looking for something more like wp_list_categories. Try searching for plugins that extend that if you need to customise it further.
