   I'm trying to upgrade to 2.3.3 using Fantastico on Bluehost. Bluehost only has 2.3.2 available and they claim Fantastico hasn't released 2.3.3 yet. 2.3.2 seems buggy, and has put a bunch of odd characters in my posts.

   This is what I received from Bluehost support: "We receive our WordPress upgrades from Fantastico, unfortunately they do not tell us when to expect them. At this time we do not know when we will receive that upgrade."

   I'm clueless with regard to doing a manual install. Any ideas of what I should try next?

   Fantastico doesn't always have the upgrades ready until quite some time later. You mentioned that you were using Bluehost. If this is the case, then you may want to consider using Simple Scripts which also has an installer for Wordpress and the Wordpress updates come much more quickly and are also easier to manage(IMHO).
