• Hi there,

I want to move my WordPress site to a new webhost. Should I install WordPress on the new host before I move the files from the old host? Or I just move the files along with the database?

One note: Version of my WordPress blog is 3.5.2, but new host offers only installation of a 3.6 version!

  • Just move the files in complete….move the database (by creating new database on new server and also editing the tables with the new site name)…

Then lastly updating the new database details in wp-config.php.

It should run just fine then.

Please note a few widgets won’t appear so you need to re-configure them again.

    Have a look at Moving_WordPress.

I looked first at Moving WordPress Documentation, but it says nothing about my question…

    Yes it does: http://codex.wordpress.org/Moving_WordPress#Moving_to_a_New_Server

By switching hosts, you are, by definition, moving to a new server.

I admit I am lost in this. I read entire Documentation and I still don’t get it.

I am moving WordPress 3.5.2 to a new server/host. I will not install WordPress there (at new host) because they offer only 3.6 version. Instead, I will move files and database.

    But?

I created the new database, and edited wp-config, but how can I do “editing the tables with the new site name”? Is it in phpAdmin and where?

P.S. My domain stays the same.
