• Hi all. New to WordPress, but coming along pretty good. Question: My first few pages within the website were loading very fast. As I continue to build my site, load times are dramatically dropping. I do not have alot of content yet, so I’m looking for answers as to what I can check or what I can do. I’ve checked the speed on several computers – in the home and at work and at a friends. Same response. I checked speed at http://tools.pingdom.com/fpt/ and the results came back that my site loads 90% lower than other sites. Took 12 seconds.

Any direction would be greatly appreciated! I’m learning as I go.

    My site is: http://www.ofica.org

  • Link is not working for your website

-You could be running too many plug-ins

-Plug-ins could be interfering with each other / not running correctly beside each other

-Add plug-in – wp super cache and wp minify to help speed things up

    -compress images

use this site to help find problems with site as well – http://validator.w3.org/

    sorry… link is http://www.ofcia.org

I don’t think I have too many plug ins:
    1.Black Studio TinyMCE Widget
    2.Custom sidebars
    3.Easing Slider “Lite”
    4.Contact Form 7
    5.NextGEN Gallery

I will add the super cache and wp minify to see if that helps.

My images are “crunched” when I upload them to the media section of wordpress. Do I need to compress them further? (Sorry – I really am a newbie.)

    Thanks for advice. 🙂
