Do I require Multi-site?

    I am currently using domain.com to do create most of my content.
    However, I am looking to expand to blog.domain.com, in order to use the same admin panel on both domain.com and blog.domain.com do I have to make a multisite?

    Second question, is it recommended in terms of SEO to make a separate sub-domain to do so?
