  • According to that page — http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/nextgen-gallery-shortcodes/ — you may want to try the new shortcodes, e.g.

    [ ngg_images gallery_ids="29" display_type="photocrati-nextgen_basic_imagebrowser" ]

to display the imagebrowser. Hope that helps!

Actually this could work, of course, but i’m not really interested in a workaround… thanks nonetheless

By the way…Version 2.0.17 …still no working old school short codes

I think it’s not a workaround, but the way you include the galleries starting from ngg v2 And above.
The short codes you are using are the old format for ngg < version 2 which are kept for legacy reasons. That means the might get dropped anyways in the future.

Besides that, for me both the new and old version of the short codes are working, what doesn’t really help you, but I just wanted to let you know (maybe the reason for the short codes not working for you is an incompatibility with another plugin I haven’t installed).

    Cheers!

remove space after “[” and before “]”

I’m having the same issues where the old shortcodes don’t work. This is breaking a lot of my galleries since I use them throughout my templates/widgets.

I honestly don’t understand why a plugin that boasts that it’s been downloaded 7 million times would change some of the fundamental ways that its users have been allowed to integrate it into their sites. It just seems like it’s needlessly breaking websites when they could/should have just left the old codes in place.

Although we tried to insure all of the legacy shortcodes are fully supported in the most current version of NextGEN Gallery obviously we missed a few (or in some cases we may have missed just a particular parameter).

As suggested, the new shortcodes are the preferred method if you are not using our Attach to Post (ATP) functionality, but we still want to take care of the legacy shortcodes as well.

Please submit a Bug Report here: http://www.nextgen-gallery.com/report-bug/ with “Legacy Shortcode” as part of the Issue Title and the exact shortcode you are using that does not appear to work currently.

Please also include the page or post (and specific place, if in a widget area) as well. All of these details will really help to sort out these legacy shortcodes issues as quickly as we can.

If you really want a change then I suggest giving them a current review of one star and tell everyone why. We need to let new users of wordpress know that this plugin is no longer a 4 star plugin and we need to get it down to a 1 star plugin. Maybe doing so would get them to really fix it correctly.

    @rogerlewin2011 Wrong shortcode!
    [ngg_images gallery_ids=”29″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails”]

    not:

    [ ngg_images gallery_ids=„29“ display_type=„photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails“ ]

@smsulliva– your 9 duplicate posts along these lines have been deleted – you posted your own review here:

When using [ngg_images gallery_ids=”29″ display_type=”photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails”], i only get “Invalid Displayed Gallery”

@rogerlewin2011 – Thanks for reporting this. We appreciate the feedback although I just tested this same shortcode (with a different gallery) and I am not seeing the same issue as I see on your site.

We will still investigate this matter based on your Bug Report.

What kind of additional information do you need? I’m using WP Super Cache. Did you test the plugin with this in conjunction?

    [nggallery id=26] isn’t working either, e.g. here
