    Hi,

First off all, let me congratulate you guys on inventing such a great product. I find it really useful like many others. But there is one problem.

I want to ask one basic question to you that what is the system of getting support from you in real time?? I mean to ask if I am using your product and facing few problems with it.. or rather trying to learn more about it.. then where should I go??

On your site if I try to find support and click on any link for that then I end up on this forum.. but frankly speaking I don't see any REAL SUPPORT as such.

Many threads and queries are remain unanswered for days.. :-(

You do certainly have lots of reading material, tutorials or lessons to make us understand everything.. but actually it's really VAST and equally CONFUSING for newbies like me.

I have spent hours in trying to learn from these lessons.. but frankly speaking it's just like jumping from one link to another.. as if it's meant just for weaving web of links from SEO point of view.

Can you please provide me any such email ID where I can get answers to my specific query? OR at least tell me where can I find such real time help from anyone who is familiar with Wordpress.

I am using default kubric theme 2.3

    Thanks in advance.

    regards..

Well your using a free and open-source program and the support your getting is free. There is only a handful of people that regularly visit and help on these forums. I can only think of maybe 10 lately that have been giving any real help.

Any way you might be able to hire a wordpress consultant. Or have a look at the wp-pro mailing list.

As far as your other question goes I will reply to it on that topic.

    Hi jeremyclark13,

Thanks a lot for your prompt reply..

I do understand that this is a free, open source product... and that's why this forum happen to work on it's own pace.
But I always recieved prompt solutions on few other free and open source forums... that's why I was curious to know how this forum works.

I have stuck with my queries regarding WP since last 2 weeks.. but still havn't found proper answers on net.

Anyway... thanks again.. I would check these 2 links you have provided.

(Can I ask you my WP query in single post in PM.?)

    bye..

    regards

Can I ask you my WP query in single post in PM

Why not start a new topic and ask there so if I can't answer it maybe someone else can and it will also benefit others who might have the same problem.

Note, that you will have a send an email to the wp-pro email list at wp-pro@lists.automattic.com and actually 'solicit' professional assistance. At that point, other members of the list will see your email and respond.

Everybody always wants to take shortcuts...

Yes, it is vast. Yes, it is confusing. My advice: Read. Really. Okay, so you may not get it at first. It may take time. Most things do take time. There are no shortcuts.

And like you found out, if you don't want to take the time, pay somebody else to do it for you.

And let's not forget an essential detail: all the helpers in this forum (including moderators) are volunteers...

    hi Otto42,

Everybody may always wants to take shortcuts... but I am not one of them...

    I don't believe in shortcuts..

whatever I have learned about Web designing is ONLY and ONLY by reading and reading on-line tutorials or text books... :-) and to tell you the truth I am on WP tutorials for hours since last few weeks..

    And dear Moshu,

I do know about the essential detail that all the helpers in this forum (including moderators) are volunteers...

and that's why I was just interested in "knowing the actual process" of getting support from experienced people related to WP...and that's why I didn't raise any question like WHY we don't get answers?? .. that's not my intention.

Thanks for all your answers and help provided...

    greatly appreciated..

    regards..

    Hi MichaelH,

YES.. I am going to spend few days in getting familiar with the wp-pro mailing list.

Once I will know how it works then only I will try to seek help ...

    thanks

In other words, if I read you correctly, there simply is no "Company" support at Wordpress, and if you are not Expert in the use of a computer, you can go whistle! I did not set up my site, and the person who did so is no longer available, but I would like to find him and wring his neck for using Wordpress in the first place! Thanks for nothing, and if you are a volunteer reading this, you are a fool for atempting to assist a company that, for all practical purposes is a FRAUD

Oh for the love of god. How can you possibly blame your poor business outcome on WordPress? That could have happened whether you were using Microsoft Enterprise, Joomla, Drupal, Expression-Engine, etc. etc. etc.

I am a web designer by trade, but that didn't happen overnight. It's taken years and I'm still learning new things and I hope always to be able to do so. It galls me that people think that it's "easy" (and therefore we should be paid squat if we are paid at all) and that any monkey can do it.

Expertise in installing and configuring applications and scripts of any kind takes practice and, again, doesn't happen overnight. It has nothing whatsoever to do with this "company". Do you blame Bill Gates when your Windows application misbehaves? Think about it.

I would venture to bet that at LEAST 6-8 out of ten questions posed here have already been asked, and more importantly, already ANSWERED. The same folks who are so impatient about wanting to learn all about CSS now that they have WordPress to play with are impatient if their question isn't answered in an hour. These same people probably stand in front of a microwave jumping up and down and yelling "hurry up!"

There's help to be found here, on the Internet (http://www.google.com) .. and if you want to get specific, just append this to your Google keyword search:

    site:www.wordpress.org

    </rant>

There is no "company" support at WordPress because there is no WordPress company. It's a software product developed by volunteers and supported by volunteers. You can tell this because it was not something set up to make money, like most companies are. And considering you paid nothing for it, dldecker, it appears they planned wisely...

For anyone wanting to use a word like "fraud" to describe WordPress, or call someone like myself a fool for supporting it, may I suggest taking a very long, deep breath, then follow that up by trying to get a large dose of perspective (or more appropriately, reality) on the issue.

    amen Kafkaesqui,

Wordpress is a very advanced package with a very generous community you've only got to look at the plugins and themes to see that.

my advice is read the documentation first and if you are unsure about that then ask on the forums. Yes, sometimes the documentation can be daunting but it's better to ask a question on something you understand a little than something you have no idea at all - it makes it a lot easier for the person explaining it as well.

Big thanks to the Wordpress developers and the community.

    Steve
