Loss of Sidebar alignment and grey blocks since update

I have recently updated to the latest version (3.5.2) and upon activation it interrupted the alignment of the sidebar (where the contact form is based) and created grey blocks down the sides of widgets. See https://www.dropbox.com/sh/conebbs8ysabfae/hme7OEsn66
for images of how it affects the layout when activated.I have changed back to a previous version an reloaded old versions of all my page themes but the grey blocks remain.
They disappear and the page layout returns to normal as soon as I deactivate. I have checked compatibility with other plugins and uninstalled their updates to a time when all were previously working together with no issues, yet the problems remains.

I am not very familiar with WP, but can resolve issues under easy instruction. Please help!
